The Matrix Story
The American Conservation Coalition Action sits in a unique position. We are the leading conservative environmental organization in the country, and our sister organization, the American Conservation Coalition, boasts 40,000 members nationwide.
In August 2023, an ACC member asked the only audience question at the first Republican presidential primary debate. That question was about climate change. Candidates’ answers ranged from on target to incoherent. Thus, a media frenzy transpired, and when the dust settled, we had an idea: create a matrix that shows the American people exactly where Republican presidential candidates stand on climate and energy issues.
And, so, the 2024 presidential matrix was born. Our team collected research on each of the presidential candidates’ platforms and prior statements to rank them on five criteria. This includes acknowledgement of anthropogenic climate change and belief in the need for emissions reduction, as well as support for three critical areas of climate policy: nuclear energy, permitting reform, and clean energy innovation to compete with China.
ACC Action will continue to update this matrix based on candidates’ comments and platforms throughout the 2024 primary. As is consistent with our goal to mobilize the conservative environmental movement, we hope Americans will use this matrix to inform their vote with the start of state primary elections come January.

Climate change is real, and human activity is a factor
Mr. Ramaswamy has said both that anthropogenic climate change is happening and that the climate has always been changing. While ACC Action encourages candidates to evolve their stances on climate and energy issues, we cannot in good faith say that Mr. Ramaswamy fully acknowledges our climate reality.
